This simultaneously funny and serious book provides the easiest, fastest way for readers to painlessly attune themselves to the mysteries of the Hebrew alphabet and immerse themselves in the fundamentals of practical Qabalah. It is a road map from the Godhead to your head - a clear and lucid guide to an extremely complex, mystical topic. By performing the exercises and rituals in the book, the reader can complete the self-initiatory process comprising the three main degrees of Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford's Practical Qabalah course.

The First Time I Met Lon.... / At Alta Coffee...
« on: June 20, 2015, 10:29:23 AM »
... or was it the Gypsy Den?  Either way, Lon was performing at a John Carrillo hosted open mic.  I didn't know him from his magic books (or from anywhere), and, of the night's performers, he was probably one of the older gentlemen (by far) in the lineup.
One of the great things about an open mic is that your expectations are minimal.  If someone can sing on key, they're already way ahead of the game. If they can sing AND play their instrument, they've already achieved open mic superstardom.  Sing, play AND write a good song? Probably past the open mic stage of their career - and yet, many can and do.
I believe Lon opened with, "I Love to Get Drunk In the Car."  He sings this one with such glee and sincerity, it's hard not to get behind combining whiskey with wheels, (even though we know it's a terrible idea.) By the time he was "lighting a cigar" and smoking whilst he drank in the car, I knew I had to learn more about this guy.
Lon was my first interview with OC Music Scene, and, later, when I semi-retired (got fired) I dedicated my free time to getting his Complete Musical Works preserved for the ages. (I mean, the guy was already ancient, and time was of the essence.)
That was four years ago - since then he's been booked all over the world, recorded three full length CDs and even issued a "Greatest Hits" collection.  Not bad for a "washed up, old pathetic has-been!"
And he continues to live and give and do "shit you can't imagine."

Jim,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have some signed CD's from our last Stage-It show that were not claimed and Lon DID sign about 60 posters we had for his Chance Theater CD Release show for "I'm Baba Lon"  (we gave everyone that came a free signed CD and poster)  but I haven't actually had him sign any 8x10 glossies.  It is something I will possibly have after our next Stage-IT show.

This is a good point.  I'll have to take this up with the Season people.  :)

All great ideas, John.  I've added a place for posting photos.  It's a little kludg-y because i have to limit the size of the images or I'll quickly run out of space - but i've posted a few recent snaps of my own.

I've put all three of Lon's albums for sale for Int'l Lon Month (July) - some are marked down right now to a little as $6.66!  http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/LonMiloDuQuette

We have a Zazzle site for trinkets - I've always been a little reluctant to promote it because their prices are ridiculous - but it's here: http://www.zazzle.com/ninetythreerecords

I will work on the rest of your ideas as I have time!

Stage-IT shows / Sirius Rising
« on: June 07, 2015, 02:42:53 PM »
Lon's next Stage-It show will be Thursday, July 23 at 7pm Pacific.  It's a live show broadcast from Ninety Three Records Rehearsal Studio (also known as my former dining room.)  Lon talks, sings and plays his guitar and 7 seconds later - you hear it in you living room!  There is a also a simulchat going on - everyone in the audience can cheer, or cheer - and I relay your comments, suggestions and requests to Lon as the Show progresses.  The official time of the show is 30 minutes but we generally are awarded an additional 20 minute "Encore."

Everyone is invited - the "tickets" are "Pay What You Can" (there is a minimum charge of 50 cents per connection.)  Commerce at the site is actually conducted using Stage-IT "Notes."  1 Note = ten cents.  You can buy a ticket with 5 notes.  You can tip a dollar with ten notes.  You can buy notes at any time, but the minimum transaction is 50 notes ($5).  You can get more details here: https://www.stageit.com/lon_milo_duquette/sirius_rising/47475

Reserve your connection and send in your requests!

Lon's turning 67 on July 11th.  He'll be in Taiwan for his birthday, but there's a Stage-IT show, Sirius Rising, scheduled for July 23rd.  Ninety Three Records will be featuring some promotions of his recordings during the month as well.
Happy Birthday Lon!
